Trusting the chiappa.net CA
To teach your web browser to trust the chiappa.net Certificate Authority, and thereby enable SSL access to www.chiappa.net:
- Go to http://www.chiappa.net/ca/chiappa-net.pem
- You need to enable your web browser to "trust" this certificate...
- If you are using Firefox, Mozilla or Netscape, when it asks if you want to trust the chiappa.net, check all options:
- Trust this CA to identify web sites
- Trust this CA to identify email users
- Trust this CA to identify software developers
- If you are using Internet Explorer:
- Choose to "Open" the certificate
- When it opens, choose "Install certificate" and keep all of the options at their defaults. Select Finish at the end of the installation wizard
- When it asks if you want to install the certificate (it should tell you that the thumbprint is 789A7BD3 FA5E0022 C5B5CF80 5033D11F 8C926519), choose Yes.
- If you are using Google Chrome
- Download the certificate
- Go to Options -> Under the Hood -> Manage certificates
- Follow the instructions
- Go to https://www.chiappa.net/ to test that you get a secure connection
